Frequently Asked
Questions

A duvet is a quilted blanket filled with a natural ou synthetic filling — such as down or down-alternative — that is protected by an interchangeable cover.

The U.S. defines duvet as a quilted insert unique from the comforter, but in Europe, the term duvet is used more generally.

The main difference between a duvet and comforter is that a comforter is just one piece of bedding while a duvet requires two separate pieces — an insert and cover.

A comforter is usually quilted with the filling evenly distributed, while a duvet has an insert that works as the fill. The insert fits into the duvet cover like a pillow in a pillowcase.

1. Start by laying your duvet on the bed first. Then, turn your duvet cover inside out and place it on top.

2. Lay the duvet cover on top of the duvet — ensuring that all corners line up and that the opening is at the foot of the bed. If your duvet cover has ties or snaps, tie all four corners of the duvet to the cover.

3. À partir de the foot of the bed, place your hands inside the duvet cover and grab the top corners. Pinch each corner — making sure you have both the insert and the cover — and flip the cover right side out.

4. Keeping each corner of the duvet cover in your hand, lift up and slide the cover down on top of the rest of the insert. Hold the duvet cover and adjust as you go. Once the cover is fully over the insert, tie the bottom ties together (if your cover comes with them).

5. Give your duvet cover a good shake and fluff to make sure everything came out correctly.

We strongly encourage using one! Similar to using a pillowcase with your pillow, protecting your Casper duvet with a duvet cover will help safeguard it against sweat, dirt, and stains — and it can easily be regularly thrown in the wash with the rest of your linens.

To care for your duvet, machine wash in a large front-load machine in cold water on a gentle cycle. Then, tumble dry low with dryer balls (or clean tennis balls). Before removing from the dryer, make sure the duvet is completely dry before putting it back into the duvet cover.

Do not iron or dry clean the duvet, as certain chemicals can dry out the down clusters and cause them to break down faster and lose their resiliency and insulation properties.

If you don’t have a front-loading washing machine, don’t fret! Feel free to reach out to our customer experience team for alternate suggestions on how to clean your duvet.

We designed the Down Duvet, Down Alternative Duvet, and Humidity-Fighting Duvet to work specifically with the Casper sheets, but you can also use your existing sheet set or duvet cover. Just be sure to double-check the dimensions, as our duvets were consciously designed to be slightly oversized.
